Berend van de Kraats – Chair
I believe everything has a limit except human potential. At present leadership and human capital is limited by the boundaries of organisations, institutions and systems. We must identify new systematic approaches to consistently unleash our collective human potential. That exploration is what drives me within OceansX.
OceansX gives me hope. Hope that my children can join our society in ten years time and contribute for who they are and as they are. Also hope that this new way-of-work, with increased diversity and connectivity, generates a movement towards new standards of creative power. Providing answers for the increasing complexity and volatility of our world and that of our children.

Hans Bouchier – Treasurer
As Project & Proposal Development Specialist and Financial Manager at OceansX, my focus is on the development and elaboration of project plans and budgets, funding, financing and collaboration with public and private partners for Xplorations aimed at creating sustainable impact.
OceansX inspires me to work outside the boundaries of traditional organizations, in a growing community of intrinsically motivated co-explorers, to collectively realize new, innovative and sustainable solutions to relevant societal challenges.
Jan Willem Faessen – Member
I am Jan Willem Faessen and independent entrepreneur. With my administration office, we support and advise entrepreneurs to achieve maximum impact. We do this by organizing all those matters that are necessary but distract or deprive energy of the substantive mission as efficiently and effectively as possible for entrepreneurs. So that he/she can spend his/her time as much as possible on impact.
With OceansX I can put my energy and talent into cross-organizational challenges, which are so important right now for an intrinsically motivated youth and a dignified survival of the human race on our own planet.
Everine van de Kraats – Member
A body of Water with a passion to use the full potential already available in this world, a scientist and entrepreneur with a heart for the new science of water and its applications that provide solutions for most of the world’s challenges today in health, agriculture, energy, climate, and more. Enabling and facilitating all those people in the entire world water community (individuals, organizations and institutions) who are doing the great work to heal our internal and planetary waters.
My drive with OceansX is to create an open environment for all of us, for any Xplorer, in which we can contribute from our own essence, when and where we can, while moving towards goals that we each cannot achieve alone, across boundaries, borders and organizations, while being valued for who we are and all that we can be. To become free.
At the moment I’m facilitating the infrastructure for OceansX and participating in Xplorations.
Fred Sotthewes – Chair
My name is Fred Sotthewes, I am a former Major General of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Within the Royal Netherlands Air Force I have been involved in transformation processes and innovation in various positions.
Since the Royal Netherlands Air Force is by nature a mainly technical company, there was always a lot of attention for technical innovation. Yet I have learned that the real difference in development and growth lies with the human being. In my opinion, social innovation is therefore much more important than technical innovation, both for organizations and for people.
By focusing on the development of people, the involvement, passion, contribution and well-being of each individual grows. Contributing to society in the form of work is an important part of our lives and therefore of our sense of happiness. Then it is strange that we pay so little attention to this precisely.
My involvement with OceansX is directly linked to that fact. Putting people first, giving people the opportunity to work on their well-being, great achievements and a better world with a sense of purpose. The passion within OceanX for this always gives me a lot of energy.
Rob Zaagman – Member
I am Rob Zaagman, a recently retired Dutch diplomat. In my retirement, I want to remain connected to socially relevant developments which have my interest. As Ambassador to Denmark, my last posting, I met Berend van de Kraats and came away with a very positive impression of his ambitions with OceansX. Hopefully, my expertise can supplement those of Berend and his crew and of the other members of the Advisory Council of OceansX.
