RECAP Day 2 – OceansX ONE hackathon
Wow, looking back at the second day of the OceansX 1 hackathon we experienced a real burst of collective potential!
These teams represent businesses and institutions all across the maritime and IT-sector. From students to hardcore professionals and everything in between. A diverse and inclusive group of purpose driven individuals coming together around this social issue.
Some teams are genuinely enjoying the energy and connections. Regenerating motivation and inspiration in their field of maritime engineering. Other teams recovered from a system overload on day one and engaged in a free flow creativity mode to add value with their unique talents!
Already we can conclude that all the results of this hackathon will, for sure, support the OceansX ONE challenge and the participating crews with providing (near real-time) data-driven feedback.
Day two
Again at 9AM all teams were present at the kick-off. We focused on explaining the Key Performance Indicators as layed down in the Rules of the OceansX 1 Game (see document section of this platform). Beside that we took time to introduce our vast network of mentors, experts and practitioners to further optimize team connections. Creating an open atmosphere in which individuals are comfortable asking for help may well be the most important aspect of establishing these connections!
Injects and BOOSTS provide fun and inspiration
All teams continued their hero’s journey while keeping an eye out for the fun challenges and learnings along the way. The word cloud in the picture was a result after the well-watched webinar of Matthijs Vonk (Student of TU-delft).
After lunch Micheal Kortekaas came with a BOOST. An inspirational session on mental resilience. Stressing the importance of soft skills, describing different stages of focus and elaborating on the hero’s journey by providing practical tips and tricks and other coping mechanisms.
Results and way ahead
Day 2 resulted in seriously interesting data-analysis, data enrichments, models and machine learning scripts and gamification tools! Throughout the night and on day 3 the teams have started their sprint to the finish. Working on the visualizations and final presentations.
For all supporters don’t miss the award ceremony at 1530 on Thursday 23rd of April in Microsoft Teams.
