Xploration Seafarer & Scientists unleashes the collective potential of our seafarers and scientists for global impact.
The atmosphere and it’s natural sinks for methane (and carbon) still hold a lot of mysteries. Xploration Seafarers & Scientists provides unique data, collected by seafarers, to scientist to enhance and validate global climate models.
In this case the sampling is part of the Iron Salt Atmospheric Methane Oxidation (ISAMO) project – to better understand the natural methane oxidation (depletion) process catalyzed by the interaction of the iron rich Sahara dust with the salty maritime boundary layer under the influence of sunlight. https://www.sparkclimate.org/methane-removal-approaches/iron-salt-aerosols
